Start with the details that matter
The most useful road-trip brief starts with the driving you actually want to do. Give the start and end points, the number of days and whether you are returning the car to the same place. A loop and a one-way journey need different overnight plans.
Try a brief like this
A seven-day Portugal road trip starting and ending in Porto. Two adults, a maximum of about three hours driving on most days, coastal scenery, small towns and two nights in each main base where possible. Moderate budget.Use this example and make it mine →
Opens the planner with these details. Edit them before creating your itinerary.
Put a driving limit in the brief
Say whether two, three or five hours behind the wheel feels right. That is driving time, not the whole day: parking, meals, photographs and short walks take time too. Ask for a lighter day after the longest leg rather than adding another distant stop.
Use overnight bases to unlock the route
Changing hotels every night adds packing and check-in time. Ask for two-night bases where that makes sense, and explain which places are non-negotiable. The planner can suggest the route; inspect the map and check actual road conditions before setting off.
Make the route fit the season and vehicle
Tell the planner your travel month and whether you have a rental car, campervan or your own vehicle. Add any restrictions such as avoiding mountain roads, ferry crossings or city-centre driving. Seasonal roads, border rules and rental restrictions need confirmation with the relevant operator.
A better brief makes a better plan
| Think about | Include this | Avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Start and finish | Porto to Porto; car collected after arrival | An unexplained one-way route |
| Driving preference | About three hours most days, with scenic stops | Every day filled to the theoretical maximum |
| Overnight pattern | Two main bases, with one stop en route | A new hotel for every attraction |
Will Tripanow provide turn-by-turn navigation?
Your itinerary includes a route map and directions links where locations are resolved. Use a navigation app for driving. The plan is for organising the journey, and does not replace current road, weather or access information.
What your itinerary includes
A day-by-day plan, a route map, suggested places to stay and indicative costs in your selected currency. Stop photographs appear when a verified match is available. You can ask for changes after the plan is generated.
